We've had a similar issue, our diesel Landrover Discovery Sport (2016) ~55k miles and full service history came to a stop driving back through France with no previous warning signs and smoke coming out of the exhaust. Got the car transported to land rover dealer in France who said it was the turbo and needed a turbo and exhaust replacement.
